Should I buy the Top 5 Strengths assessment or the Full 34 Talents assessment?

The Top 5 Strengths assessment will give you your top five CliftonStrengths. This is a great place to start if you're on a budget.

The Full 34 assessment will unlock all 34 of your talents in order, starting with your top five. The two assessments are actually the same; the only difference is that one code grants you access to your top five and the other code grants you access to all 34. There is a price difference, of course.

So, which one should you take? Well, information is potential power so we recommend that you take the Full 34, so you can then begin to understand not only your top five strengths but your other dominant and supporting talents, which also contribute to how you do what you do.

The good news is that if you purchased a top five strengths assessment and then you want to know more, like what's your number six strength, then you can upgrade by buying a code to unlock all 34.

How does the assessment work?

What’s the difference between Talents and Strengths?

Don Clifton, founder wrote that Talents are your "naturally recurring patterns of thought, feeling or behaviour." They're the innate, natural abilities you can productively apply.

When Clifton studied human behaviour, he noted hundreds of positive characteristics and saw that many of those characteristics had commonalities. Based on those common traits, he distilled them down into the 34 talent themes we know today. To identify the rank order of those 34 themes for yourself, take the CliftonStrengths assessment, which measures the presence of talents.

A Strength is the ability to consistently provide near-perfect performance in a specific task

But to turn those talents into strengths, you must invest in them–practice using them and add knowledge and skills to them. Like any muscle, talent or skill, it requires practice and repetition to strengthen and improve it. The formula for this is simple: Talent x Investment = Strength.
